Although there has been a rapid decline in the Dairy industry in Western Sydney over the last twenty years, six percent of the state's total is still produced in the district. Hawkesbury & Camden areas are the main producers with about 18,000 dairy cattle on about fifty farms. The industry is worth $25 million per annum.

FARMING & MUSHROOMS
Turf farming and the mushroom industry are now major enterprises particularly in the Hawkesbury district. The mushroom industry is worth $80 whilst the turf farming industry is valued at $50 million per year.
Various citrus and stone fruit varieties are still grown in large quantities in orchards throughout the Hawkesbury and Baulkham Hills district. The citrus industry is worth about $100 million per year.
